We are pleased to announce that Joel D. Scheraga, PhD, a nationally recognized authority on climate change and public health, is joining Healthy Schools Network as Senior Advisor.
Dr. Scheraga brings an exceptional record of federal leadership on climate adaptation and resilience. As Senior Advisor for Climate Adaptation in EPA’s Office of Policy, he led efforts to integrate climate resilience across the Agency’s programs and helped shape both the National Climate Resilience Framework and the federal Climate Action Plan. He also served as a lead author for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which shared the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize.
His decades of work advancing strategies to protect children and vulnerable populations from climate-related health risks will strengthen Healthy Schools Network’s mission to ensure that all students learn in safe, healthy, and resilient environments. Dr. Scheraga’s expertise will help guide the Network’s growing focus on climate resilience in school infrastructure and environmental health policy.
