Making America Healthy Again, or not?

HS Network Comment: It’s time to be heard!  Does anyone actually believe that chain-sawing Medicaid and taking away free school lunches will make children healthier or improve their well-being?

The federal Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that 40% of school age children have one or more chronic health conditions. Everyone wants children to be healthier and more (not less) federal support is needed to promote healthy diets and lifestyles. But the Congressional Budget Office has found that the new House Budget Resolution will force cuts to Medicaid, a program used by half of all US children to keep them healthy at home, and at school. Medicaid can cover school-based health care and therapy for children with disabilities, and can pay for school nurses. The House Budget Resolution may chop $12 billion from the school lunch program. Reckless cuts to Medicaid and school lunches will NOT make children healthy again.

Healthy Schools Network invites you to join us in supporting the well-being of children, and supporting the schools, teachers, health care professionals, and school staff dedicated to helping kids thrive and succeed.
