Indoor Air Quality Program and Funding Available for K-12 Schools Nationwide

School indoor air quality (IAQ) is linked to several health outcomes plus important school indicators like student concentration, absenteeism, and academic performance. The Clean Air School Challenge is a new program offered by the American Lung Association (ALA) designed to help K-12 schools assess and improve their indoor air quality. By participating in the program, schools will write or update an Energy Efficient Indoor Air Quality Management Plan, allowing them to proactively plan for IAQ risks and outline procedures for mitigating IAQ issues. Participating schools will receive training, support, and technical assistance; they can also work with a peer mentor and apply for minigrants.
